About this event

Summary

Question Persuade Refer (QPR) for Substance Use Disorder professionals is a modification of QPR including specific information relevant to those working with SUD. These modifications have been approved by the QPR Institute.

The training will include information to illustrate how SUD can increase the risk of suicide. We will review different risk associated with suicide based on the different stages of change. We will cover different ways to use QPR in SUD treatment facilities.

This training is appropriate for anyone who works in SUD treatment, including support staff, treatment technicians, substance use disorder counselors, and supervisors.

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide.

Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. Each year thousands of Americans, like you, are saying "Yes" to saving the life of a consumer, friend, colleague, sibling, or neighbor.

This training will be 2 hours long
